"Get in my way and I'll crush you."
"Stop wimping around already, pigface."
"Seriously, I can't understand you humans."

♥ N a m e :

Madeleine "Lys" Duval. She introduces herself as "Lys", not many people know about her real name.

♥ A g e :

19

♥ B i r t h d a y :

22th December

♥ S p e c i e s :

Half human, half elve. Her ears are a bit pointy, she's more agile and has a longer lifespan than the average human (that means she also ages slower, she's 19 but she looks a bit younger), not at the level of a pure blood elve though. She can't use magic.

♥ F a c t i o n :

White (the white lilys in her hair, the beads and the gems on her outfit)

♥ J o b :

Dancer

♥ P e r s o n a l i t y :

Everything about Lys reeks of softness. She looks, moves and sounds like a stereotype of the typical nice-and-quiet girl. Well, that is as long as you don't listen to what she's saying. Because she's not a nice person at all. You can't even say that there is a nice side to her hidden deep into her heart or whatever, there isn't. If you ever catch her doing something kind, either she has something to win in this or someone (by some miracle) got on her really good side and she doesn't want to lose that person. Don't expect her to comfort anyone, she feels incredibly uncomfortable around sad people and even irritated when someone complains too much. She never pities anyone since she hates being pitied.
She's also very ambitious. She wants to be the best, and there is nothing in the world that'd make her give up on that goal. Lys is fairplay though ; even if someone pulls off a dirty trick on her, she won't hold it against that person but will be even more eager to destroy him/her. Following the rules of course.
Because of her upbringing, Lys tends to look at everything through a neutral and objective point of view, and is probably wiser than she looks. A part of her can't help but wanting to mess with people's mind and troll them though. If you ask her for advice, there is one chance out of two she's messing with you, but there'd always be a part of her answer hidden.
Despite all that, she's not an angry monster, she doesn't bite everyone approaching her without a reason. It's the opposite actually, she's surprisingly friendly but doesn't get truly close to people easily. Also, she loves receiving attention (she's not in a circus for nothing after all). She might not be nice, but she's not a plain jerk either ; she's painfully honest but once she says something (other than trolling of course), there is only a very low probability she doesn't mean it. She values promises a lot too. Trust is not something Lys gives easily but once she trusts someone, she trusts them. Betray it and you might never see neither her nor the light of the day again. unless you're like imortal and uber powerful or something. Curious, she'll often ask people around her about the human society she has a hard time to comprehend.

♥ H i s t o r y :

Lys's mother, Iris, is an elve from an elve island near the french and english colonies of Caribbea. Humans were capable of forcefully taking people from their country after invading and exploiting it, treat them like things worse than beasts and work them to death, what could have stopped them from doing the same with elvens ? Especially since they were a race doted with magic living on a land full of ressources... Fully aware of human greed and fearing being enslaved as well when the colons first came to the nearby island with a lot of slaves, the elves used magic to make their island invisible to human's eye. However, the spell only affected the island, not its residents. Whenever an elf/ve left the island, he/she would become visible to human's eye again. Of course, there were times when they had no choice but leave the island to get food or materials. When that'd happen, they would usually try to avoid any unnecessary contact with humans. Despite that, they couldn't help meeting with humans, who had forgotten about elven's existence centuries ago, from times to times. It was still a rare occurence though.
It was because of one of these rare occurences that Lys was born. Iris had left the island to go to a nerby colony when she met Lys's father, at that time a young man, son of the proprietor of the colony. He was supposed to succeed to his father in the business and accompanied him on his travel. As soon as he saw Iris, he fell head over heels in love with her. He hadn't realized she wasn't human, her ears being the only inhuman trait of her were hidden under her long black hair. Rather, he mistook her as a half breed due to her clothes, unfamiliar to him but not ragged up like the other slaves. She looked...diferrent to him. He tried everything he could to make her feel the same way, and apparently succeeded because the next day, she came again even though it was not needed... Ever since, they met up secretly everyday until the man's departure day came. After he left, he still left Iris with something... The future baby girl she'd name Madeleine.

When the elven discovered that Iris was pregnant with a human child, they made a radical decision : leaving the island was prohibited, except once a month for the island leader. After her birth, Madeleine was raised as an elve. Other elves, were really cautious about her ; they didn't want her soul to be soiled by humans since her body already was. Her grandmother was even more concerned because, day by day, Madeleine was looking more and more like her mother and she wanted to prevent another 'unfortunate event' to happen again. Not that she hated Madeleine, but she didn't want her to suffer because of humans and was thus overprotective. She was actually the one who brought up the idea of totally closing off the island. Elven felt a lot of contempt for humans, who were for them ungrateful of nature and the sickest, even the most evil beings on earth. The little girl was hardly accepted there, she was often teased by other kids for being a halfie ; she couldn't use magic. That didn't help with her personnality at all. The only person she ever felt the need to be good with was her mother. Actually, she had taken up dancing for her, she was always telling her how she loved to see her dance. Dancing was also a great stress reliever for Madeleine ; even if she didn't have much affection for anyone on the island except for her mother, and a bit her grandmother who was caring from time to time, being recalled non-stop of not being 'normal' and that it wouldn't change wherever she went was tiring. Also, the very fact about having these so called monsters' blood running through her veins and not being able to do anything about it strongly disgusted her. Seeing her daughter's distress growing each day, Iris decided to tell her the truth about her birth. Madeleine had been told that her mother had been violated so that she'd be afraid of the human world, but when she learned the truth, the curiosity she felt before having been lied to was fiercely revived, a lot stronger. Her mother was talking happily of the times she spent with the man, even though she had absolutely no idea what he had become now. She also talked about the stories the man had told her, about how the world in France was, and made Madeleine go passionately dreamy when she touched the topic of circuses. The very idea of being watched, applauded, even sometimes adored by complete strangers who wouldn't give a care about who she might be as long as she could perform looked like a wonderful heaven... A beautiful and distant dream... Well, distant only if she stayed on this island, right ? Even though the thought crossed her mind, she brushed it off quickly ; how could she be able to abandon her mother ? Who was going to make her happy ? However, her will started to waver when her mother told her

"You know, I'd rather have you living happily the way you want, wherever you might be than secluded somewhere you feel unhappy."

Madeleine had no idea if it was just a random declaration or that she had sensed what she had been considering, but after a little while, she had made a decision. When she'd turn 17, she'd definitely leave for that country called France and head straight off to Paris to become the best performer of all times. She had quite so time left to live anyway, that shouldn't be so hard, should it ? Faking genuine interest, she asked her mother to teach her a bit of French. Surprisingly, it was really easy for her to pick up, as elven language and French were both latin languages. Until then, she had been living like she always had, but was dancing way more than usual. If she wanted to be the best, she had better work on it the sooner she could. A few days after her 17th birthday came, she waited for the night to fall to sneak out and steal an elven boat in order to reach a colony where was a boat returning to France the next morning (she had sneaked out before too to get that information). Actually, she almost had gotten caught, but was covered by her mother. Iris had a hinch something like this would happen someday... After all, dogs don't make cats.

When the sun rose, the boat headed to France left, with Madeleine on it. While travelling, she had somehow made friend with a middle aged couple on the boat who agreed on hiding her. She figured the thing she had been told about some humans being naturally attracted (in a friendly way) to elven wasn't false. After reaching Nantes' port, the old couple introduced her to one of their friend, a restaurant owner, so that she could find work before leaving to Paris. Madeleine was aware that before becoming 'the best', she had to earn 'money', that thing humans love so much... Well, she understood that feeling after discovering its power and purpose. Not that she became a money grabber either though. After a while, she had improved her speaking a lot, almost fluent, and saved up enough to leave the town and head to Paris without starving in two days. Not willing to wait any longer, she quickly hopped on a train to the city of her dreams... Where she'd have literally discovered the 'circus of dreams'. Drawn to this enchanting place, she couldn't miss the opportunity and immediatly wanted to join the troupe. As she was asked to introduce herself, she
remembered her mother talking about how some artists chose another name to sound more attractive to the public. 'Madeleine' being a long and boring name, she opted for the name of the flower she loved so much, with which her mother had made her hair ornaments ; the white lily.

"My name is Lys, pleased to meet you."
