Mayu is an awfully curious girl. She loves to ask questions about everything and anything. Pretty gullible, she'll probably believe anything you might say to her unless she has been told the opposite before. Although, she likes to 'prove' what she learnt and is kind of a mad scientist. It's not uncommon to hear her asking herself "What would happen if --- ?" and experimenting it afterwards. Never on herself, of course, she's the scientist not the guinea pig. Still, she's usually quiet during class or around adults in general. Despite having been quite pampered, she isn't shy at all around other kids of her age, and suprisingly more with adults even though she's been in contact mostly with them since her birth.
Mayu is a bit of a crybaby and can't handle pain at all. As much as she hates it, she cries easily no matter how she tries not to. Actually, telling her "Stop crying" makes her cry even more.
She likes recognition a lot when she does something right, most probably because she never really received any. Also, she's really insecure and fears being abandoned a lot, maybe because of her mother leaving. Even though she doesn't remember her, she uncounciously 'knows' there is something she had before that she doesn't have anymore and needs to be reassured from time to time.

✿ F a m i l y H i s t o r y

Mayu was born from a German mother and a half-Japanese half-German father, a high-ranked man in a well known company. Her mother decided to leave her father when she was 2 years old. Too young to understand anything, she doesn't remember her at all. Whenever she asked about her, everyone always evaded answering, leaving Mayu confused about that matter. It was after the divorce that her father decided to move back to Japan, bringing his only daughter with him.
Without any motherly figure, she thus set all her attention on her father. She always wanted to please him, but she was still a child and couldn't do much. Since she was always seeing her father reading the papers in the morning (the only time of the day she could see him because he was very busy) she asked him to teach her how to read. Instead, he hired a teacher, unaware of the fact she also wanted to spend more time with him.
Even though she was disappointed, Mayu took a great liking to reading. She was always reading child stories at first, then anything she could grab even if she didn't understand much of it. However, though she had been wanting to impress her father, she didn't get the result she hoped for.
Thinking she wasn't good enough, she got depressed. When the maids told her father about her mood being down, he thought it might be because she was homeschooled and didn't meet other kids of her age often. Still he was worried about what kind of school would be good enough for her ; he indeed cared for her even though he didn't know how to show it, pretty clumsy with shows of affection. Sakuragi Gakuen seemed to be a perfect choice, a school where she would be in security, taken care of with attention and where she could learn a lot of things peacefully. Her growth would be carefully watched over, a thing he would be hardly able to do properly because of his position.

❀ She's easily scared, but she likes scary stories. But she's still a scaredy cat and would grab anything nearby to hug it tight
❀ Since everyone around her has always talked to her normally, she doesn't speak like a child and doesn't always understand deformed words
❀ Can't stay still for too long and ends up moving uncounsciously (like balancing her legs back and forth and such)
❀ Plays a lot with her hair and doesn't want to cut it
❀ Has a lot of energy despite being delicate and rarely falls sick
